About

Why this guide exists

Most Matterhorn content is either pure marketing or pure photography — neither answers the actual planning question of how the trip works logistically. Jeldavo focuses specifically on that gap: the real train legs, what the Täsch shuttle is actually for, honest altitude expectations at each viewpoint, and enough historical context to understand why the valley is built the way it is.

Every figure on this site — elevations, journey times, opening dates — has been checked against primary sources (railway operators, official tourism bodies, and historical records) rather than paraphrased from other travel blogs. Prices, schedules, and lift operating hours do change season to season; always confirm current details directly with the relevant operator before you travel.

The hotel catalogue

The Stay section lists hotels from the Hotelbeds catalogue: those in the Zermatt valley and the Valais first, then the rest of Switzerland. Descriptions, facilities, room types, coordinates, contact details and photos are supplied by Hotelbeds and the hotels, in English, and can be incomplete or out of date. We show no prices or availability and take no bookings: every hotel page links to the hotel's own contact details so that you book directly. Being listed does not mean a hotel has paid us, and hotel names, brands and photos belong to their owners.
